deciding between cabinet and sofa bed

Cabinet Bed Vs Sofa Bed

Let’s face it, the living quarters never seem big enough, especially come holiday season with family and friends coming by to stay the night. Whether it is expected or unexpected, a spare bedroom or two always comes handy in a pinch. That said, more and more folks don’t have the space, or don’t want all the rooms in the house or apartment to be bedrooms. However, you still want to be able to host when you need to and you don’t want to put them on the floor or give up your own bed. So when people come to stay, there are two main options for sleeping: The sofa bed and the cabinet bed.

The Sofa Bed

Sofa beds have been around a long time and they’ve come a long way in the last twenty years as far as improvements go. It is a great idea to have a mattress pop right out of a sofa when you need it. Unlike the past where everyone had the same old sofa bed, there’s a good amount of variety out there to please a wide range of tastes. That said, they’re an extra couch that you may not need, tucked away in a spare room or out in the middle of a main room where you really don’t want it 90% of the time. Not to mention they are a lot heavier than a regular couch. This makes them a pain to move and carry.

The Cabinet Bed

Cabinet beds are a new and quickly growing trend for spare beds. They’re a sleek and cool way to have an extra sleeping option tucked away in plain sight. You can use this cabinet for all the regular cabinet topping books, pictures or other knick-knacks. You don’t have to have an extra couch you never use gathering dust either. While cabinet beds still remain an extra piece of furniture, you can tuck them aside against a wall inconspicuously until they’re needed. Cabinet beds unfold out with absolute ease, and come in different sizes to suit your needs. Cabinet beds are certainly a conversation piece amongst guests, and come in various styles and models to match any home’s aesthetics. They’re great way of having the extra room when you need it, without in impeding your space when you don’t.
